New Media Learning Lab- Part 2

As of today, I have tried to learn how to cook on the Internet and experience it myself for nearly two weeks. In these two weeks, I have made a lot of progress, and I have also experienced something different from what I just started learning. I find that persistent practice brings a lot of different things, and I am also growing rapidly. At least I won’t starve myself to death.

What I think is very different is that I am not only learning how to cook, but also learning management skills. If you only cook once, you only need to go to the supermarket to buy the relevant ingredients, and if you want to cook every day, you must arrange the ingredients for each meal reasonably and purchase them in bulk. For example, I cooked two dishes last Monday and Thursday, but both used potatoes as an ingredient, but I did not purchase in advance but what I needed to buy, which greatly increased the cost of cooking. So I think one of my main studies this week is to learn how to manage and coordinate the relevant ingredients and seasonings for cooking. And I think these courses on the Internet cannot teach you. I think these can only grow rapidly through personal practice.

What I am most happy about is that I gradually discovered the recipe for Sichuan cuisine. Because in Chinese food, every cuisine has some fixed patterns, and Sichuan cuisine, as a typical representative of Chinese cuisine, needs a lot of peppers and peppers. I like to eat peppers and peppers, so I have made a lot of Sichuan dishes. After a lot of research and experimentation, I found that in fact, many dishes can be integrated and inferred. So later this week, I not only learned from the Internet, but also tried to create some new recipes myself.

Throughout the process, I think the Internet played the role of an initial teacher. Because it is difficult for you to have a chef spend some time teaching with you, but through his youtube video, you can form such a learning community. But I also think that in practicing this matter, we cannot rely too much on Internet videos. For example, if I just watch the video and do not operate it every day, I will not find that one of the difficulties in cooking is the procurement and management of ingredients. So I think that we can start learning by relying on the Internet, but we also have to understand our learning ideas in the later stage, and develop and create our own learning experience more.

All in all, I have been very happy for the past two weeks. Instead of ordering a lot of takeaway every day, I cook for myself with my own hands, which makes me very happy.
