Technology has changed life. In the short course of human development, media technology has been exerting various influences on the world.

PHemp paper had been used in China for wrapping and padding since the eighth century BCE. Paper with legible Chinese writings on it has been dated to 8 BCE. The traditional inventor attribution is of Cai Lun, an official attached to the Imperial court during the Han Dynasty (202 BCE-220 CE). Papermaking is the manufacture of paper and cardboard, which are used widely for printing, writing, and packaging, among many other purposes.
The modern printing press was founded after 1400s. Johannes Gutenberg’s work on the printing press began in approximately 1436 when he partnered with Andreas Dritzehn—a man who had previously instructed in gem-cutting—and Andreas Heilmann, owner of a paper mill. However, it was not until a 1439 lawsuit against Gutenberg that an official record existed.
In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell invented the first telephone. This was a huge development because it made long distance communication way more convenient. The invention of telephone stand for the availability that message can send to anywhere in the world in just seconds.
It is generally recognized that the first radio transmission was made from a temporary station set up by Guglielmo Marconi in 1895 on the Isle of Wight. The invention of radio allows people to quickly obtain a large amount of information at the same time. This also marks that mankind has entered the information age.
As the development of the information age. People are not satisfied with listening to the information, they also want to see the information. In 1922 Jenkins sent a still picture by radio waves, but the first true television success, the transmission of a live human face, was achieved by Baird in 1925.
The computer networking revolution began in the early 1960s and has led us to today‘s technology. The Internet was first invented for military purposes, and then expanded to the purpose of communication among scientists. The invention also came about in part by the increasing need for computers in the 1960s. During the Cold War, it was essential to have communications links between military and university computers that would not be disrupted by bombs or enemy spies.
The first smartphone, created by IBM, was invented in 1992 and released for purchase in 1994. It was called the Simon Personal Communicator (SPC). While not very compact and sleek, the device still featured several elements that became staples to every smartphone that followed. For example, the SPC was equipped with a touch screen as well as the ability to send and receive both emails and faxes. It had a calendar, address book, and a native appointment scheduler. It even featured standard and predictive stylus input screen keyboards.
The development of digital media is inseparable from technological innovation. It is mankind’s continuous innovation and new technology that makes the world develop rapidly.
